On macOS you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/superuser.com\/questions\/982161\/how-to-make-a-clone-of-a-bootable-usb\">built-in Unix-based utilities<\/a> (a little messy) or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balena.io\/etcher\/\">Etcher<\/a> software you downloaded to <a href=\"https:\/\/mileggedrobots.eecs.umich.edu\/index.php\/create-your-website-with-blocks\/software-install-config-xubuntu-pyckbot-mcc\/\">create the Brain-on-a-Stick<\/a> (very easy). Chromebooks, predictably, are difficult about all of this (<em>sighs<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cloning a USB Flash Drive in macOS Using Etcher<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Make sure you have a functional Xubuntu &#8220;Brain-on-a-Stick&#8221; flash drive and a fresh USB flash drive that you&#8217;d like to make into a clone.<\/li><li>Plug in both flash drives <\/li><li>Launch <strong>Etcher<\/strong><\/li><li>Click &#8220;<strong>Clone drive<\/strong>&#8221; (in the left side if the Etcher window, below the two &#8220;Flash&#8221; buttons)<\/li><li>Click \u201c<strong>Select target<\/strong>\u201d and select your destination USB flash drive.<\/li><li>Click \u201c<strong>Flash!<\/strong>\u201d Once the process is complete, there may be a dialogue reading \u201cThe disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.\u201d Click \u201c<strong>Eject<\/strong>\u201d and everything will be fine.<\/li><li>Remove your USB flash drive and you&#8217;re ready to go!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Cloning a USB Flash Drive Using a Chromebook<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is trickier. As of this writing, it doesn&#8217;t seem that cloning USB drives is supported (or encouraged) on Chromebooks. However, you can clone the Xubuntu OS as it is running on your Chromebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Boot up your Chromebook in Xubuntu using your &#8220;Brain-on-a-Stick&#8221; flash drive<\/li><li>Open up the web browser, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balena.io\/etcher\/\">https:\/\/www.balena.io\/etcher\/<\/a> and download Etcher<\/li><li>In the <strong>Downloads<\/strong> folder, right click on the <strong>Zipfolder<\/strong>, and drag the file ending in \u201c.AppImage\u201d out into the <strong>Downloads<\/strong> folder<\/li><li>Launch the <strong>Terminal Emulator<\/strong>. Type: <kbd>cd Downloads\/<\/kbd><\/li><li>Run the command <kbd>.\/balena*<\/kbd> to launch Etcher (a new Etcher window should open).<\/li><li>Plug in the fresh USB flash drive you wish to clone this OS onto.<\/li><li>Click &#8220;<strong>Clone drive<\/strong>&#8221; (in the left side if the Etcher window, below the two &#8220;Flash&#8221; buttons)<\/li><li>Select the drive that is labeled something like \u201c<code>Xubuntu 20\u2026..<\/code>\u201d<\/li><li>Click \u201c<strong>Select target<\/strong>\u201d and select your destination USB flash drive. <\/li><li>&nbsp;Click \u201c<strong>Flash!\u201d<\/strong> <\/li><li>After process finishes, you should have a copy of your bootable USB.
